Landed

Landed
It appears we’ve landed
On a ruined airstrip
The tower’s overgrown
This craft is all alone
Kicking down the cabin door
Leave this shell forevermore
No return flights will be sold
Terminal abandoned
The turnstiles groan and creak
Reality is “stranded”
Onwards, our lonely goal
Draw aside the ripped and torn
Ediface that we adorned
With broken shells dead ocean floors
See the sands smash the glass
All the hopes never came to pass
What lies beyond the cellar door
Whip the hind
Lash the eyes
It should never have been a big surprise
Mesh ribbon retractors
Exploded on the floor
Form a barrier maze
Beyond that are the doors
Chaos reigns confuse the mind
Wish to go back in time
To the place we left behind
Because we could not stop ourselves
Pushing past the doors
A world awaits that we ignored
Spilt milk and broken eggs
The apocalypse was one we made
And we landed here
Not long before we disappear
In the meantime let’s not waste a breath
Being here is enough scared to death
And no more matchstick men
And no more preaching sin
And no more frenzied gains
And no more preserved remains
And no more facades and sets
And no more contrived regrets
We just landed here . . .

Sight
Calm release in song
In a world gone wrong
Heal by breaking chains
When it’s done I remain
Blinded by the sight
Of so much going wrong
Out of mind despite
The importance of it all
Feeling ill at ease
Beyond that I’m at peace
Know madness will not cease
The world exists beyond our piece
Can it be reconciled?
A cynic’s gaze with a smile?
Standing at the precipice
Take flight over the abyss . . .
Let it go

Feeling Fine

Fine
I’m feelin’
I’m feeling fine
Which isn’t to say
All concern at bay
It means just alright
This head’s a trip
Maybe I mean it
I guess just alright
Hold to the wall starting to fall
Is it an end or the start of it all
Hard to defend when the world’s at an end
I just don’t care it’s too hard to pretend
Forget the rest sweet smell of success
They fall behind when put to the test
There is no reason just broken rhymes
Wash us away nothing much left behind
I’m feelin’
I’m feeling fine
Not worth the time
Outta sight Outta mind
I guess it’s alright
‘Cause I’m feeling fine

Eyes
04:04
|
|||
Eyes
Newspaper tears blind in both eyes
Vacant stares as they fight for the prize
What to win? A momentary reprise
Rinse and repeat to enjoy and deny
I can’t see through those eyes
Blood and spit tangled up in the nets
Repress oppress too many writhing around
The one percent just the circus trickles down
To the one that’s left no casino to take their bets
I just can’t see through their eyes
Back in the day things were easy – way too safe
To just keep up each day refusing to change
Patterns and slots last exit left far behind
Cruel tipping points our event horizon shined
I just can’t see through these eyes
I guess that’s it no need to belabor it
Said and done
I just can’t see through your eyes

Don’t Delay
A) Exit: “I think I have as much as I can grab. Hopefully it’s enough for a start. I gotta get moving before the sun comes up. See you soon.”
B) The Road: “Clear sailing so far. Almost no one out on the roads. I should be clear in another twenty miles or so. I’ll keep you posted.”
C) Trouble: “Looks like there’s some people blocking the road. I stopped and pulled off as soon as I saw them. Shit, they’re coming my way . . . Gotta go.”
D) Chaos
E) The Fight
F) Regroup: “Yeah, I made it. Umm, that’s all I can say. Shocked, sick. Didn’t have to be that way. Just wanted to pass. They wanted the vehicle and the supplies. Couldn’t let that happen. Fucked up right now. Stopped, clearing my head. I’ll let you know when I get closer . . .”
G) Respite: “Less than an hour out. Taking dirt roads now, pavement is no good. Don’t want anymore trouble. Love you.”
H) Onward

Dogfish

Dogfish
Venom tips the fins
Primal machine portends
Darting through the deep
No lord its soul to keep
No turmoil
No quests for oil
Elegance by design
Geometric shapes
Patterns we sadly face
Overthought primate
Giving far less than we take
All turmoil
And quests for oil
Disgraced by our designs
Dogfish in the depths
Currents and waves caress
Evolution at its best
It’s clear we failed the test
Ain’t it funny that I find peace?
Knowing one day we’ll cease to be
Being is one resilient beast
Knowing one day it will find peace

Last Time
02:40
|

Last Time
. . . the last time today
Tucking everyone in tight
As the day turns to night
Speaking words of certainty
“I’ll be here for all eternity.”
Knowing it might be
It might be the last time today
As we all soldier on
Does darkness meet the dawn?
Never been so damned tired
But someone has to tend the fire
Knowing it might be
It might be the last time today
Have to try and read the signs
And forge ahead with grand designs
Crest the rise with shaded eyes
The cursed thought does arise
That this might be
This might be the last time today . . .

Surveyor

Surveyor
Sun breaking upon the clouds
Beaming right unto me
Shield my eyes with my hand
To see what is to see
It’s such a strange feeling
Trying to mourn for the dead
Nothing left in the shadows
No more need to pretend
Crystal clear the world awaits
To begin at the end
All around are the leavings
From the end of our run
The wasteland of futility
Mirrors all that we’d done
It is too late to tell
Ice has formed on the trail
It was all bound to happen
Circumstance lifted the veil
